Xiaomi Leads the TWS Market in Indonesia

The research results show personal audio devices that grow exponentially in the Asia Pacific region, one of which is aided by gait smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi.

Xiaomi controls 44.2 percent of TWS market share in Indonesia, followed by competitors in the next rank with 23.9 percent market share.

This conclusion is based on research conducted by Canalys in May 2020 which called the countries in Southeast Asia a priority for smartphone manufacturers because of the growth of TWS products in the first quarter of 2020.

Streak and surpass other categories of personal smart audio devices such as wireless headphones, wireless earphones and TWS. The key is offering products with a variety of price ranges from entry-level to high-end levels.

For the Asia Pacific market, Canalys estimates shipments of personal smart audio products to grow by 61 percent year-on-year or compared to the previous year to reach 16 million units in the first quarter of 2020.

A contribution of 21.1 percent makes the Asia Pacific region rank third third for global markets after North America and China.

Throughout 2020, Canalys predicted that shipments of personal smart audio devices would grow to 23.6 percent in Asia Pacific with TWS products as the main driver. Of the estimated 76 million units of equipment shipped, 44 percent will be contributed by TWS products.

This achievement is in line with the smartphone + AIoT dual engine strategy adopted by Xiaomi since 2019. In the first quarter 2020 financial report, Xiaomi recorded a 13.6 percent YoY growth in the first three months of 2020. Revenues from the IoT product segment and lifestyle grew 7, 8 percent in the middle of a difficult time during a pandemic.

As the world's IoT platform leader, the number of IoT devices connected (except smart phones and laptops) to the Xiaomi platform grew to 252 million units as of March 31, 2020 or grew 42.6 percent YoY.
